Paleontologists working in Egypt’s Western Desert have uncovered a previously unknown species of mosasaur, Halisaurus auriculatus, shedding new light on the marine predators that ruled the oceans 70 million years ago. The discovery has ignited excitement among researchers due to the animal's unique adaptations. Halisaurus auriculatus possessed long, slender jaws lined with more than twenty teeth on each side, suggesting a rapid but weak bite.
