KALEIDOR: The Prism Leviathan

The story

In the frozen darkness of a sunless world, young harvester Vesper embarks on a dangerous trek across shattered ice plains to track Kaleidor, a miles-tall wandering crystal leviathan that absorbs stray cosmic light. Accompanied by her mechanical scouting automaton, Rust, Vesper reaches the titan's colossal, cathedral-like crystalline legs and begins a treacherous vertical climb. As a catastrophic black-frost storm closes in, Vesper battles hostile frost-parasites clinging to the titan's hull and scales its glowing geometric ribcage. At the creature's chest chamber, she faces a tragic dilemma when she realizes harvesting the core will kill the leviathan, which shelters a delicate glowing ecosystem inside itself. Vesper instead uses her prism-gear to realign the core's light projection, funneling a concentrated beam of warmth down into the geothermal vents of her subterranean home city below, igniting a permanent light-beacon that warms her people while leaving the gentle leviathan unharmed to continue its eternal march.
